Through Glass

Earlier this month I was privileged to see who I believe to be the world’s greatest living composer, Philip Glass, perform on solo piano. From the moment his fingers touched the keys chills erupted on my spine and wouldn’t stop until he exited the stage.

I first heard Glassworks on LP when I was fifteen years old and was instantly propelled into a state of pure elation. His music quickens the brain and it’s as though each nerve ending becomes a feeler that pushes through the skin and attaches to the larger, unseen system outside of the body.
