Surges & Scarcities

Structure

Jake and I have decided that the music projects we’ve been dabbling in together deserve to be taken to the next level. We’ve had a lot of fun over the last few years jamming and recording here and there but there has been no structure and, therefore, no real progress.

So Jake suggested that we start by simply setting aside one evening a week that we dedicate to our collaborative musical projects. We must ignore fatigue, distractions, laziness, injury, illness, weather, solar flares, or alien invasion and adhere to this very lenient schedule.

We’re on our fourth week and already it’s been such a gratifying addition to our lives. Not only are we practicing and creating but we’re also organizing, adjusting, labeling, and giving bones to the oftentimes amorphous form that music (especially mine) can take.

All I can say is that it’s a real joy to have this element of our relationship and I can’t wait to see (with a lot of grooming and discipline) where it will take us.
